How Many Articles Will It Take to Reach Your Goals?
I spend a few minutes each day, on my lunch minute, reading through the forums over at eHow. I always find something that makes me think, and dream, about the endless possibilities that can be achieved if you have the desire and commitment to follow through with a plan. One of my favorite type of posts revolves around “How many articles it takes to make $1,000 per month.”
Why everyone focuses on $1,000 is beyond me, but I will say that this number fascinates me as well. Of course, $250 excites me almost as much. So after yet another one of these posts was made today, I started wondering how many articles it would take for me to make $1,000 per month on eHow.
Since most of the articles I have published in January have not started making any money yet, I think it is a fair assumption to remove them from my calculations. I have published 82 articles overall, with 12 being published in January. So far this month, I have made $32.20 (all from articles published prior to January 1st), which comes to approximately $0.46 per article for the first 18 days of the month (or 2.56 cents per article per day).
Assuming a constant rate of earnings, which I know will never happen, I should make around $55 this month. Needless to say, this is a LONG way from earning $1,000 per month.
Let’s look at this another way! $1,000 per month is approximately $33 per day. At my current rate of 2.56 cents per article per day, I would need 1,263 articles to make this amount. Like I said, I have 82. And these took me about 3 months to write. So is this goal a realistic one for me this year? Absolutely not. But what would happen if I completed the personal goal that I have set for myself.
My overall objective is to create one quality, keyword dense, eHow article per day during 2009. At the end of this year, that would mean that I would have 435 articles published. If each of these articles continued to earn 2.56 cents per day, I would be making approximately $345 a month starting in January of 2010.
While this isn’t $1,000 per month, I promise you I will not complain about making an EXTRA $345 a month.
What about you? How many articles will it take for you to make $1,000 per month? Have you done anything to help you get there today? If not, get busy and while you are at it
