Tax Season Is What Tax Season Does (Obvious Forest Gump Reference Inserted)

Published by passivestreams under Planning Edit This

So I actually missed 3 days of posting on this blog this month. I had high expectations of going twenty-eight for twenty-eight, but life got in the way. Additionally, I barely created any new articles on eHow, so my eHow earnings will be primarily from older articles. It should be interesting to calculate the final numbers in a few days.

Unfortunately for me, March is looking rather busy as well. I do not do taxes for a living, but this year I am attempting to do a few of our companies by myself. I have never claimed to be a tax expert, so we shall see how this pans out over the next 17 days - FYI, Corporations have to file their taxes each year by March 15th.

Have you ever wanted to attempt something that you have never tried previously? Were you scared to fail or otherwise NOT live up to your expectations somehow. Yeah! That is me right now. Sure, this is going to save us huge bucks, but at what cost. I have been putting in some seriously long hours since I still have to run the day-to-day operations for our companies. I am seriously feeling overwhelmed…but I love every minute of it!

I just wish I could be spending more time with my son.

Top 3 Reasons Why You Fail To Make Money Online

Some people will never make money online. These people do not possess the necessary attitude, or focus, needed to produce a positive stream of income. As such, I have decided to post what I think are the top 3 reasons why people fail to make money online.

1. Laziness - Creating income online is extremely time consuming. Additionally, it does not happen overnight. Many people will choose to quit before they ever see their first dollar. Are you one of those people?

2. Entrecard - I cannot tell you how much time is wasted dropping these stupid little cards. Don’t get me wrong, I love Entrecard, but you have to learn to balance the time you spend dropping with the time you spend working on your passive streams of income.

3. Life - Time is a major issue for a lot of people. If you are like me, you work 12 hours a day. When you get home, the last thing you want to do is work another two or three hours. The problem is that if you want to make money, you have to put in the effort. You must put in the effort to see the results.

What do you think? What reasons can you think of that cause you to fail?

Why Friday Night Is My Favorite Night Of The Week

I love Friday nights.

In my opinion, Friday nights are simply God’s gift to me. No, I do not go out and drink it up. I do not watch High School football games. Heck, I do not even really like any of the TV shows that are on (except Ghost Whisperer - of which I am now on the fence about since Melinda’s husband sort of died). No! I love Friday night because they give me a glimpse of what my life is going to be like in the future.

I usually take off from work around 5:30pm. If my wife needs me to stop by Publix on the way home, I will. If not, I head straight home. I walk in the door, throw my stuff on the counter and enjoy my family. For 2 1/2 days, I know that I get to spend time with my wife and son. It does not really matter what we do, I simply love spending time with them.

Which makes me want to spend even more time with them.

So what can I do to make this dream become a reality?

Create more streams of passive income! This is my battle cry, my daily mission. If I can create enough tiny streams, I could spend more time with my family. Generating massive streams of income has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with family time.

Whay do you create passive income? What motivates you to work hard and dream?

Increase The Number of Comments You Receive

Generating comments on your blog is extremely important. In my personal opinion, comments are a way to gauge how engaged your readers are. It tells you whether or not you have struck a nerve with those readers that stop by to see what you are rambling about.

Some bloggers try to be controversial. Controversy tends to create tons of comments. I tend to shy away from these type of posts. I would rather just talk about what is important to me.

Some bloggers kiss up to their readers, basically begging for comments. Again, not really my style, but whatever works for them is fine with me.

To me, if you want comments, you need to write about what you are passionate about. I love creating passive streams of income.  It is what I do for fun. I hope this comes across to my readers - all 4 of you :) If you ever feel moved to comment - please do so. I do not screen the comments, but I do moderate them since I get some much spam.

How Long Does It Take You To Write An Article?

I actually had time to finish a few articles for eHow this afternoon. The problem is that I am such a slow writer. Seriously! I just do not understand why it takes so long. Each article takes me about 45 minutes. And this is without having to do the research. If it takes this long, and I already know what I am writing about, how long would it take me if I had to actually do some research first?

It should be a simple thing to take what is in my brain, and type it into a computer. Unfortunately it is not. I sit there and agonize over every word. Did I put the keyword in the right place? Does the article seem natural? Are my pictures relevant? Then once I am done and actually hit publish, I review my “live” article to see what ads appear.

If the ads are terrible, or completely unrelated to my topic, I go back into the article and tweak it some more. I add keywords to the pictures…. I change the structure of my sentences….Anything to make the ads seem more clickable.

What about you? How long does it take you to write an article? If you had 8 hours one Saturday, how many articles could you get done?

Finding The Motivation - I Really Need To Find Some

Wow! Another day down with zero articles published on eHow. I am on a terrible streak that simply needs to end. I have the time, just not the motivation. Lately I have been spending WAY too much time watching TV, which is absolutely a waste of time, in my opinion.

I am never going to reach my goal of 400 articles by the end of 2009 at this pace. Heck, I may not even break 100 if I do not do something drastic to change my effectiveness. I want to write articles, I need to write articles, I have ideas to write articles, so why can’t I just sit down and write the darn things?

What do you do to break out of your funk? I can’t be the only one who has been wasting so much time lately. How did you motivate yourself to push through and write, even when you simply wanted to sit and do nothing?

2 Hours Wasted - Wow, American Idol Really Sucks

Usually, I really look forward to American Idol. Last season, David Cook simply rocked it every night. Completely! Unfortunately, for me tonight simply sucks. It is so bad that it is a bit weird.

I have not heard one artist that I have truly enjoyed. I would have been better served spending the last two hours writing a few articles. Seriously, in the two hours I spent watching this crap I could have easily finished four or five articles. To be honest with you, this kind of irritates me.

Normally, I TiVo everything and spend a few hours on the weekend catching up. I think I need to implement this plan again. Idol simply sucked.

What is your main distraction? What keeps you from achieving your goals? How do you keep from wasting time when you could be more productive?

Great Passive Income Blogs From Around The Block

Lately there have been some really good posts concerning the power of passive income. I guess people are finally realizing just how much sense it can make; and how much money you can make. Today, I would like to take the time to point out a few of my favorite passive income blogs. In addition to learning about passive income, you can learn a lot about personal finance and investing as well. Here are three of my top ten favorites:

Passive Family Income - It is no secret how much I like this site. It you want consistent quality content, this is the site for you.  Even while on vacation, PFI lined up a list of really talented writers to quest post while he was gone. Of course, you can read my contribution here.

Smart Passive Income - If you are looking to be truly inspired look no further than Smart Passive Income. Not only is Pat the author of an amazing eBook that literally makes him hundreds of dollars a day, he also really knows how to generate consistent passive income.

Passive Dad - The Passive Dad is one of my newest passive income finds.  Scott is a stay-at-home dad who can just plain write. And he has some pretty impressive credentials (investment banks, brokerage firms, etc). ThePassiveDad should definitely be on your RSS reader if it is not already there.

Please check them out. You won’t be sorry!

Make Money Writing Articles - How Does eHow Calculate Your Earnings?

When you include pay per click advertisements, such as Google or Yahoo Ads, on your blog or websites, it is easy to determine how you make money. If someone clicks on one of your ads, then you make money. If they do not click on your ads, you receive nothing. It does not really work this way, however, when you publish articles on eHow.

Almost every day, a new eHow user posts a question about earnings on the forums. Basically, the question revolves around how your earnings are calculated. This is a question that everyone wants to know, but no one actually knows the whole truth.

While, in my experience, it appears that most of your revenue is generated primarily when a reader clicks on a Google Ad, other factors need to be considered. Recently, I wrote an article in which everyone of the keywords paid out at more then $15 per click. Imagine my surprise when earnings were finally posted and this article earned $0.15. How is that even possible?

I double check all of my articles after publication to ensure that the ads that show up are relevant and include the keywords I am aiming for. The ads for this particular article were dead on, so something else must be factored in. When you look at your overall article, you will notice that there are numerous GREEN links, which are also ads (probably Kontera or something). As the author of an article, we have no control over which words are linked to by this secondary company. If fact, these ads may or may not be relevant to your article or not.

The key thing to remember is that eHow is not ripping you off. They do have some method to calculate your earnings. If you are unhappy, you are more than welcome to create your own PAGE RANK 7 revenue sharing site. Personally, I will take whatever they give me!

Passive Streams of Income - Do Not Become Obsessed

Creating passive streams of income can become an obsession. There is nothing like seeing your hard work produce results that help you to achieve your financial goals.

One thing you need to consider is that you need to take a break every now and then. If you burn yourself out, you will quit and you will fail to achieve success. You do not want your blog to join the long list of “dead” blogs. Taking a break allows you to recharge your batteries. Taking a step back allows your creative juices to begin flowing again.

I like to take one day off from blogging each week. Sometimes I even take two or three, depending on what I have going on in my life. I love working on my blogging empire, but even I need a break every couple of days.

What about you? Do you take breaks from your blogs? Do you continue to publish posts via changing the date stamp?
