How Long Does It Take You To Write An Article?
I actually had time to finish a few articles for eHow this afternoon. The problem is that I am such a slow writer. Seriously! I just do not understand why it takes so long. Each article takes me about 45 minutes. And this is without having to do the research. If it takes this long, and I already know what I am writing about, how long would it take me if I had to actually do some research first?
It should be a simple thing to take what is in my brain, and type it into a computer. Unfortunately it is not. I sit there and agonize over every word. Did I put the keyword in the right place? Does the article seem natural? Are my pictures relevant? Then once I am done and actually hit publish, I review my “live” article to see what ads appear.
If the ads are terrible, or completely unrelated to my topic, I go back into the article and tweak it some more. I add keywords to the pictures…. I change the structure of my sentences….Anything to make the ads seem more clickable.
What about you? How long does it take you to write an article? If you had 8 hours one Saturday, how many articles could you get done?
I try not to tackle anything unless I can get it done in forty minutes tops. But writing comes easily for me, and just because someone is slower, doesn’t mean anything. You obviously have tons to contribute.
I usually write between calls at work. 5-10 minutes here of there. I then spend 15 minutes or so reading and modifying things later. I am probably spending about 45 minutes on each article, but it is broken time. Not straight through.
I take forever to write articles too. And a lot of the time is spent thinking of an interesting angle.
I don’t understand how people who write loads very fast do it - is i waffle? Or some other secret?
Thanks to everyone who commented on this post. It truly amazes me the difference in writing styles and methods.
